English and French visit Dutch best practices
We have had an inspiring day with 13 English and French directors of assisted living schemes. We visited some best examples in the Netherlands.
At Marquant, a very innovative small-scale living residence, people with all different kind of care needs live here just like home. We made a visit to their Silverfitness, mostly we hear that people visit the sports facilities for their weekly workout, but today we've met a lady who comes here for her daily workout. She cycles every day for an hour with the SilverFit Mile through her favourite city, Utrecht.
At Vijverhof, a specialised residential and care provider in dementia care, we were showed around small-scale group apartments with each 6 people sharing a household. The small units result in familiarity among carers, residents, and their family members. One example to provide activities that are easily accessible is their bike-corner in the main hall. An inviting area where residents often cycle with family or volunteers through towns and the countryside.
At TanteLouise Vivensis, a geriatric short stay rehabilitation, we learned how they have created their step-down unit inside a general hospital. The close collaboration between all specialists and the easy transfer of the patients results in shortened stay for the patients so people can quickly return to their own home. Many of the rehabilitation exercises here are supported by SilverFit systems. We saw a couple of people playing the Mole, a dynamic balance exercise where patients chase away moles by tapping their feet.
In between the visits, there was plenty of time to exchange best practices and ideas of the different countries. If you would like to be invited for a possible next exchange, please contact us.
"Thank you and all your team SO much for a really informative and enjoyable trip on Monday. I found the three places very interesting and inspiring – particularly the last one – and came away with a number of ideas and lots of enthusiasm. It was also good to meet other colleagues in the industry and you certainly looked after us all so well." Susie Oakley, Operations Director of Richmond Villages
"We have been telling everyone at our office about Silverfit and the many different environments we saw this equipment working in and how the residents benefited from using your equipment." Laura Francis, Health and Social Care Lead of Housing and Care 21
"Many thanks for your hospitality and well organised day on Monday. It proved an interesting and informative day both in terms of SilverFit in action and the different facilities." Jeremy Walford, Managing Director of Middleton Hall Retirement Village
