Improve cognitive functions by exercising

Research of Northey et al (2017) shows that exercising several times in a week seems to be beneficial for the brain of people of 50 years and older. In this research, interventions of 39 existing studies were compared. The interventions were strength training, endurance training, multicomponent training or tai-chi. It is shown that a combined program of strength training and endurance training, with average intensity on as many days per week as possible, is the most effective in improving cognitive functions.

Virtual therapy can be helpful to make the daily exercises more entertaining for the client. The SilverFit Newton and the SilverFit offer strength building exercises as games, these can be performed in an entertaining and dynamic way. For endurance training, we offer the SilverFit Mile, which can be connected both to a home trainer or treadmill. The SilverFit Mile shows a movie to create a feeling of outdoor activity inside. This leads to motivation for the client to exercise longer. If you want to learn more about our products, do not hesitate to contact us. We are happy to help you.
